“I won’t give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I’m giving you all my love
I’m still looking up
‘Cause even the stars they burn
Some even fall to the earth
We’ve got a lot to learn
God knows we’re worth it
No, I won’t give up
I won’t give up on us (no I’m not giving up)
God knows I’m tough enough (I am tough, I am loved)
We’ve got a lot to learn (we’re alive, we are loved)
God knows we’re worth it (and we’re worth it)“
“I Won’t Give Up” by: Jason Mraz
As I was walking home this evening, I had the gentle melody of this song streaming through my ears and resonating in my head. I haven’t been able to stop playing this song for days, neither on my Ipod nor in my head. This song makes me hopeful and at the same time incredibly sad. Hopeful because…well, just read the title. Sad because in between the hopeful lines of the lyrics, you also get a sense of pain and desperation.
But then you get hit with the chorus, and it picks you right back up again. Walking through the suburban streets of my town that looked more like city streets post-rush-hour, with the bright lights of forty cars and street lights, and the cool air of a rare warm winter day, this song gave me a rush of hope for anything and everything.

I adore Jason Mraz– and your thoughts about this song are spot on. Going to go give it a hundredth listen now…
I’ve probably listened to it a hundred times too. I just play it on YouTube Repeat and it can just keep replaying itself =]
