Let me just preface this blog post by saying…
This haul was a fail.
I’ve really been struggling to find pieces that I like on ASOS lately. After flipping back and forth through the pages trying to find something out of nothing because I really wanted to add some pieces to my wardrobe, I managed to pick out 3 pieces to try – 2 summery dresses and 1 body suit.
ASOS Petite Ultimate Broderie Puff Ball Off Shoulder Mini Sundress
Pros: I love the mustard yellow color of this dress. It’s sunny, summery, different, and bold but not too bold. I love the fabric and the broderie design.
Cons: I never find this shape of dress to be flattering on me. As someone who is top heavy, these types of dresses tend to go over the chest area and then balloon out from there because it doesn’t cinch in at the waist, making me look far larger than I am.
Verdict: return.
ASOS Petite Low Back Mini Sundress in Heart Broderie
Pros: Like with the previous dress, I loved the fabric and broderie design on this dress. I also loved the subtle heart print on the dress. The style of the dress was also unique with its high, square neck, and thin straps that go over the shoulder, down the back, and double as a drawstring in the back.
Cons: This dress was SO voluminous. Before I realized that the shoulder straps also doubled as a drawstring, I put the dress on and thought I could fit 2 of me in this dress. Even after tightening the straps to its max capacity without strangling myself at the neck, there was still quite a large gap between the bottom of the low back and my back. Someone taller than me (which is probably everyone) could totally see straight down the dress. The low back was also just more revealing than I would have liked it to be.
Verdict: return
ASOS Design Petite Body with High Square Neck in Rib
Pros: I really wanted to add a white body to my wardrobe to wear with a lot of my shorts this summer. This body fit the bill in that it looked sleek and smooth tucked into a pair of shorts. The petite length also fit well for my height (4’11”).
Cons: If only I could depict how shrunken this body looks when it’s not on. It looks like a onesie for a baby! Although the length of the body fits well once you put it on, the neck/shoulder/armhole area felt a bit snug for my liking.
Verdict: return.
So ultimately I have decided to return all 3 pieces from this mini haul. The first dress might have been passable, but when I tried to imagine how this dress would fit into my actual lifestyle, I have the feeling that it won’t get as much use as I would like.
Do any of you shop at ASOS? Have you had trouble finding pieces you like recently or is it just me?

Thanks for reading!
I haven’t shopped at ASOS before, but I definitely wish I would have read this post before I went shopping 2 weeks ago! I kept picking up dresses in the style of the first dress and would get so angry when I saw it on in the dressing room! It kicked all the shape out of my body and made me look like I was playing dress-up in someone else’s clothes!
It’s a shame because it looks so summery and breezy on some body types, but just doesn’t seem to suit those who carry their weight in the bust area, like me. I find that fit and flare dresses work well for my body type because they cinch in at the waist and then flare out, which balances out the top heaviness. I guess I’ll just stick to what works!
