Menswear-Inspired Loafers Review

I’ve had my eye on the Tod’s Gommino driving shoes for quite some time now, but have yet to take the plunge and purchase them. I was mainly drawn to them because they look like they would be an easy, comfortable pair of flat shoes to wear.

While browsing online for comfort flats, I came across the Natasha flats from Naturalizer, and realized there was an uncanny resemblance to the Tod’s Gomminos, with the exception of the black studs on the sole of the Gomminos.

Fit…

I purchased my usual size 4 in these shoes, and the fit was spot on. With many of my shoes, although they may fit, I often need a heel liner to keep my feet from slipping out the back of the shoes. With the Naturalizer Natasha loafers, I didn’t need heel liners, and there was plenty of wiggle room for my toes.

Comfort…

My first time wearing these loafers out, I decided to be brave and wear them for a roughly nine hour shift, spent entirely on my feet. TMI alert! By the end of the shift, my feet were mildly perspiring, which caused mild chaffing. That being said, compared to some of my other flats that have synthetic lining, the perspiration was relatively mild. The second time around, I decided to wear liner socks with them, which helped with the perspiration and subsequent chaffing, but did make the fit a bit more snug.

As the toe box is rather square, there is plenty of wiggle room for your toes, so your toes don’t get squished as much as they would in a round or pointy toe shoe. The loafers have “N5 contour technology,” which means they have noticeably better cushioning than your average flat.

While this might be an isolated issue, I could hear a suctioning sound coming from the right shoe every time I stepped. My guess is that because the footbed is higher on the sides and lower in the center, there is a gap between my foot and the center of the shoe, which causes the suctioning sound when I step down on that pocket of air. However, wearing liner socks has solved that problem too!
