The Pants Every Woman Needs | Elastic Waist Pants

Poor elastic waist pants. They have the stigma of being associated with grandmas and diaper butts. But as a slim, petite gal who struggles to find pants small enough to fit, this style of pants is a godsend! Today, I wanted to share a review of these petite elastic waist Hayden pants from Banana Republic I recently purchased.

Why Elastic Waist Pants are Amazing

Elastic waists are typically smaller than their non-elastic waist counterparts. This makes sense because a non-elastic waist pant in size 00 would need to fit the average size 00 consumer’s waist size, which may be larger than some and smaller than others. In contrast, an elastic waist pant can be designed to fit the smaller end of size 00, and expand to fit the larger end of size 00. That’s great news for someone like me, who tends to be on the smaller side.

Why a Tapered Leg Is So Easy to Wear

A tapered leg is easier to wear than a skinny leg. Skinny leg pants are meant to be fitted, whereas a taper leg is meant to be a looser fit, and is therefore more forgiving. I purchased a pair of skinny ankle pants from J. Crew in size 000P years ago, and had to toss it in the dryer about five times before they were small enough to fit snugly. Since these pants from Banana Republic are meant to be loose, I can just wear them as is, which is a HUGE relief.

What Colors and Size I Purchased

I purchased these from an outlet store while on vacation. You can find the grey pair with white stripes on Banana Republic’s online outlet here. It is still available in several sizes, and is on sale for $30! The blue pair with white pinstripes is not currently available on their website, but there are a handful of other colors available that all look nice!

I purchased both pairs in size 00 petite, and did not have to alter any part of the pants. For reference, I am 4’11” tall, with a 24″ waist, and 28″ hips. Compared to the model on their site, these pants are slightly longer on me, but not by much, which is rare.

I hope you ladies find this review helpful! It can be frustrating to find small, petite pants that fit off the rack. These petite elastic waist Hayden pants from Banana Republic fit and are a steal at the current sale price!
