I’m spicing things up today! Today’s post has zippo to do with fashion, but it was too good not to share. I was browsing Pinterest recently, and saw so many pictures of beautifully organized linen closets. We moved into our new house in August 2021, and I’ve been making my way throughout the house, putting personal touches here and there. Although I’ve been wanting to give our linen closet some love for a while now, I’ve been putting most of my efforts towards places that guests would actually see. A few weeks ago, I decided it was finally time to get started on the project. I was so inspired by Pinterest, and I was too eager to put it off any longer. So today I’m super excited to share with you my recent linen closet organization and makeover!
BEFORE
Oof. I’m almost embarrassed to show this picture! To give you an idea of how everything was reorganized, before the makeover:
Shelf 1: miscellaneous gadgets
Shelf 2: feminine products; a bag of cotton balls; a lint roller; a cardboard box with a couple bags of travel size products, a bag of dental care products, and miscellaneous products; a shower cap; a bag of Epsom salts
Shelf 3: cleaning products, hair dryer, straightener, spare sheets
Shelf 4: bath towels, hand towels, face towels
On the floor: empty cardboard box, box of contacts, bathroom scale, toilet paper, paper towels, vacuum
The Makeover
The first thing we did was disassemble the entire closet. Looking at the second shelf, you can see that there are wood slabs supporting the shelves on the sides of the closet. Some of the slabs were painted white, some were natural wood. We removed the shelves, unscrewed the slabs from the wall, and painted them all white to match.
I bought this amazing spotted stick on wallpaper from Target, which we used to line the entire back wall of the closet. After that, we screwed the newly painted wood slabs back in.
For the grand finale, I also bought a bunch of rope baskets from Target to organize all the bits and bobs inside the closet. There were so many options for baskets, but since I was going to put towels in some of the baskets, I personally preferred the baskets to be rope instead of wicker so the towels wouldn’t snag.
AFTER
Ta daaaaaaa! I am IN LOVE with how this closet turned out! For days I would open the closet for no reason other than to just stare at it. Everything is so neat and organized now, and pleasant to look at. After the makeover:
Shelf 1: miscellaneous gadgets, Epsom salts, shower cap, spare sheets, handheld vacuum
Shelf 2: the first basket has feminine products, the second basket has travel size products, and the third basket has miscellaneous products
Shelf 3: basket of face towels, stack of bath towels
Shelf 4: paper towels, basket of hand towels
On the floor: bathroom scale tucked on the left side of the basket, basket of toilet paper rolls, basket of hair appliances (e.g. hair dryer, straighteners)
I tossed the empty cardboard box, moved the cleaning products into our cleaning cabinet downstairs, and moved the vacuum into another closet that had more space. I hadn’t placed the contacts back in the closet at the time of this picture, but I’m going to tuck them behind the spare sheets and vacuum on the top shelf.
So that’s it! This post was a bit different than my usual, but it was a lot of fun. I really hope you enjoyed seeing my linen closet organization and makeover! Until next time…
