Easter is an odd holiday, isn’t it? When I think of Easter, I either think of shops filled with chocolate eggs, marshmallow bunnies, bunny stuffed animals…or I think of church. Funny how a religious holiday takes on a whole new life in the world of retail. When it comes to fashion, pastels and florals dominate the racks this time of year – neither of which I have. I’ve just never been the biggest fan of florals! So today I wanted to share how I’m planning to dress for next week’s Easter outfit, without using pastels or florals.
Dress & Peacoat
What I lack in my love for florals, I make up for in my love for polka dots. This is a really old navy blue and white polka dot dress I bought from H&M ages ago, but I’ve listed some cute options below if you’re interested in an alternative. On top of that, I’m wearing a baby pink J. Crew lady day coat in size 00P. Baby pink is festive enough for Easter, no?
Black skater dress with white dots from ASOS Petite: $20.50
Black tie-front midi dress with white dots from ASOS Petite: $40
Beige midi dress with black dots from ASOS Petite: $20
Interestingly, my first lady day coat was a black one in size 000P that I actually still had to bring to a tailor. I remember thinking the coat felt a touch too long and flared at the bottom on me. I think J. Crew has since discontinued their 000P and XXXSP sizing, as it doesn’t look like new pieces in these sizes have been released in years. So either the sizing changed between when I bought the black coat and the pink coat, or I just got less picky over time!
The lady day coat is currently unavailable, but I think J. Crew brings it back every year in the winter. It was surprisingly difficult to find an alternative petite-friendly pink peacoat for you, but I was determined! So I scoured the internet, and finally came across this one from Amazon:
Mid-thigh single-breasted peacoat from Allegra K (Amazon) – $81.99.
A couple things to note: I’ve never tried anything from this brand, so I can’t vouch for the fit or quality. There are also currently only 54 reviews, which isn’t a lot. However, the reviews seemed positive and seemed to come from mostly petite ladies. I would recommend reading the reviews through the Amazon mobile app. I noticed that the reviews on the app lists the reviewer’s height and weight, which I found very helpful, but the desktop site does not.
Pumps & Lipstick
For shoes, I’m wearing the black Gianvito Rossi Plexi Pumps in size 4. I’m not going to lie – I have THE HARDEST time wearing these pumps. My tried and true way of wearing pumps is with fabric heel liners – that’s all I usually need. With the plexi pumps, I had to use gel heel liners so they would be less visible, but I figured it would have the same effect. However, with plastic shoes, your feet will sweat. Gross, but it’s a fact. Once my feet start to sweat, they slide right past the heel liners, and my foot pops out of the shoe.
I’ve tried every variation of tricks – heel liners, ball of foot pads, inserts that cover the length of the foot, stuffing the toe box, antiperspirant, powder, double-sided fashion tape…the list goes on. The fashion tape was the only one that mildly worked, but isn’t the most practical for a number of reasons. If you guys have any tips on how to wear these types of shoes, please let me know in the comments down below!
Lastly, for lipstick I’m wearing the Dior Addict Lip Glow in shade 007 (aka raspberry).
I hope you liked seeing my idea for an Easter outfit without pastels or florals. What are you wearing for Easter?
