This is the last of them, folks! It took longer to complete than I originally planned, but here’s the final installment of the four day Connecticut road trip series. If you missed days one, two, and three, you can catch up on them here, here, and here. Today’s post is going to be a shorter one, since we only spent half the day in Connecticut before heading home.
In my last blog post, I mentioned that we splurged on a one night stay at The Goodwin Hotel in Hartford, CT. We thought it might be fun to experience a fancy hotel just one time, and although the hotel was quite ritzy, there wasn’t much to see or do nearby. However, we saw that the New England Air Museum was 20-25 minutes away, and planned to visit it in the morning before heading home.
The museum was so cool. I’ve always had a fascination with airplanes – something about the size of them and what they’re capable of…it’s just incredible to me. I felt so small standing next to them, and I was completely awestruck.
After a couple hours at the museum, we grabbed some fast food from McDonald’s, ate in the car, then started the journey home. We were so looking forward to picking up Grandpaw (our cat) from my mom’s. He greeted us with many nuzzles and purrs.
We drove home and just took it easy the rest of the evening. It’s bittersweet when a vacation comes to an end. It’s sad when the adventures are over, but it’s also nice to return to my creature comforts – the familiarity of my own home, eating a home-cooked meal after days of processed foods, and of course, the first time I sit down on the couch and Grandpaw comes over and plops onto my lap.
So that rounds up this mini travel series! I hope you enjoyed seeing all the pictures from the New England Air Museum!
