Ok, so the title is 14.3% misleading because at the end of my last blog post, I mentioned that my husband and I were taking a week-long vacation, and technically we spent one of those days in Maine, but the other six days of vacation we spent at home.
The week before Thanksgiving, we drove up to Maine to visit my sister-in-law. We arrived around lunch time, had a nice little catch up at their house, then headed out for lunch at a seafood restaurant where we had fried seafood with a side of fried pickles. (Fried pickles are a must whenever it’s on the menu – who’s with me?) After lunch, we went to a local arcade where we bought an unlimited pass that allowed us to play as many games as we wanted for two hours, with the tradeoff that we couldn’t redeem any prizes at the end. Maybe I’m still a kid at heart, but I love trading my tickets for prizes at the end, even for the lamest of prizes.
Since we only planned for this to be a day trip so we wouldn’t have to drop our Grandpaw (our cat) off with anyone, we said our goodbyes around 6-7 PM and headed home where we’d spend the next six days of our vacation.
Most of our vacation was spent ticking off house projects we’d been putting off for a while, but one of the days we did pay a visit to the whaling museum. First, we stopped at a seafood restaurant for lunch. I had a lobster roll and we had a plate of bang bang shrimp to share.
As you can imagine, the lighting in the museum wasn’t great for pictures, but I did manage to film the giant whale skeleton and replica of a ship they had. You could actually walk onto the ship, which was pretty cool. See the footage on slides four and five (and my outfit on slides one and five) of my latest Instagram post here:
It was pouring rain out and I had to wear a rain coat the entire time, so I took a picture of the outfit I wore that day indoors after the fact. I wore a cream colored sweater, black leggings, cream-colored wool socks, and yellow rain boots. For accessories, I wore an orange, cream and gray scarf with a cream tote bag with yellow flowers to match the boots. Over top, I wore a thick black rain coat from North Face to keep me dry in the rain.
I’ve always worn black rain boots up until I bought these yellow ones this past fall, and I think I’ve been seriously missing out! These colorful boots make a rainy day so much more fun!
I hope you enjoyed reading about and seeing the photos/videos from our vacation at home!
