I love vintage and vintage-inspired pieces. When I spotted this “Around the World” watch from Urban Outfitters, it seemed to fit into that niche quite nicely. Its large 1.25″ face with its brown leather straps and gold hardware made me feel like it was something I could have dug up while rummaging through my grandpa’s belongings from eons ago.
I spotted this watch months – or perhaps a year – ago, but I was hesitant to purchase it at the time given that the straps are listed as being 8″ in length and my wrist measures 5″ in circumference. It sure took me long enough to realize a very simple solution to this.
I measured the length of an old watch that I used to wear when I was a kid, and it came out to be 8″ exactly. Putting on my old watch, it hit at the same exact spot where my gold SEIKO watch, which I wear almost every day, hits. Seeing that, I was sold. I made the purchase and boy am I glad I did. It’s perfect.
Here’s the UO watch side by side with my gold SEIKO watch, which measures 5″ in length and fits my wrist perfectly:
