Ever have one of those mornings when you’re so exhausted you literally can’t get out of bed? This morning was one of those mornings.
After waking up to my usual 5:00/5:30 AM alarm yesterday morning, I headed to my morning class which starts at 9:30 AM. I returned home around noon, had a big lunch, “studied” (a.k.a. passed out on my bed from food coma) for 20 minutes, and got dressed for work. I did a 6.5 hour shift from 3:30-10 PM. It wasn’t until 10:30 PM that I finally set foot back in my house. After dinner and a shower, at last I nestled into my covers at midnight.
5:00 AM – BUZZ, BUZZ, BUZZ, BUZZ.
Me:
Tapping the “snooze 10 min.” button on my phone
WHY WON’T IT STOP BUZZING????
After about a minute: …I don’t have a touch phone……right.
My brain is so out of it some mornings that I’m somehow under the impression that I have a touch phone. Many mornings I pull this moronic stunt of furiously poking at the screen on my phone wondering why on earth the snooze button is malfunctioning, when really it is me that is malfunctioning.
That’s what happens when I try to work until 10 PM when I have 8 AM class the next day.
BUT THE BRIGHT SIDE – today was such a lovely day outside. I went to grab breakfast and coffee with a friend. Dunkin Donut’s coffee coolatta in 80 degree weather? Pure joy =)
***Note: I LOVE my job. I’m not complaining about my job at all. It’s just a little tough some mornings when I sit up in bed and start swaying sideways because I’m too drained to keep myself vertical. (I imagine it looks quite comical.) But I love what I do and that’s worth all the sleepless nights.
***Note #2: I’m writing this post while sitting in my 3 PM lecture. Should I be paying attention? Yes. Is my professor boring me? Yes. Attention span of a peanut I tell you.
