Pink Hues: Express Petite Work Top Review

I recently had an intervention with my work wardrobe. I got inspired to overhaul my entire work wardrobe, get rid of anything that I didn’t love 100%, and rebuild it from scratch. Part of rebuilding my work wardrobe involved figuring out what color palette I was truly interested in, as opposed to what I was actually wearing. I realized that the colors that most appealed to me were cream, blush pink, and mauve. Keeping my eyes peeled for pieces to add to my work wardrobe in this color scheme, I came across this mauve top from Express, called the “Solid Notch Square Neck Puff Sleeve Top,”

In the store, I wasn’t able to find this top in petite sizing in any of the color options. I tried on XS regular in very similar styles in cream and mauve, but both were roomier and longer than I’d like. The cream color was also on the sheer side.

In XS regular, the length is a couple inches past the start of my hip, whereas the XXS petite hits right at widest part of my hip. The sleeves on the petite size hit at a higher, more flattering point on my arms, and the chest fit more snugly so there isn’t any sagging fabric in the chest area. For reference, shirts that are anywhere between 20″-22″ are generally hip length on me.

The material is a slippery and slinky type of material, described on Express’s website as “rayon/spandex,” which may not be to everyone’s liking. Personally, I find the material easy to wear because it doesn’t cling to my body.

Since purchasing, I’ve put this through the wash once and hung dry it, and have not seen any signs of damage or wear and tear.

I’ve paired it with a pair of blush pink pants here, but I also pair this top with black or cream pants in my closet; as well as black, gray, or nude skirts; and I’m loving the versatility!

. . . .
