Chicwish Leopard Midi Skirt

Midi and maxi skirts – so ’90s, so back on trend, so elegant, and so modestly chic. Being 4’11”, I’ve always admired midi and maxi skirts from afar, but have always been too hesitant to try one on for fear of how overwhelming it would be on my petite frame.

While browsing Chicwish recently, I was repeatedly drawn to the “Get It Started” leopard print midi skirt. Something about the silhouette of this particular skirt gave me the sense that I could make it work on my petite frame.

I ordered this skirt in size XS, and I love it! I have a 24″ waist, and though the skirt could sit a little higher than it does, it’s not so loose that I would take it to my tailor. As this is not petite sizing, the length is somewhere between a midi and maxi on me, but personally it doesn’t bother me at all.

What makes this skirt work for a petite frame is the fact that it sits higher on the waist, which helps to add length to your legs, and it doesn’t have an overwhelming amount of excess fabric.

I love a hidden high slit! As you can see in the first picture, when you’re standing, there’s enough fabric and weight to the fabric that the slit isn’t noticeable, which makes it appropriate to wear in a more conservative setting as well.

Have you styled midi or maxi skirts? How do you like to style them? Let me know in the comments down below!

I picked up a couple other pieces from Chicwish, so stay tuned for future blog posts featuring the rest of my haul!
