I’m Gonna Be Happy, Healthy, & Well-Rested…Sort Of…

Lifestyle changes suck – especially when you’re quite content with the way things are.  In my case, I’m content with being a couch potato.  I’m content with staying up til midnight, knowing that I have to yank my butt out of bed in less than 6 hours for those days that I have early class.  I’ve been living in this unhealthy manner for as long as I can remember, because it made me happy.

But you know what makes me even happier?  Acing my classes.  But all the work that’s put into acing classes takes a toll on you at the end of a semester.  So this semester, I thought I’d try something different.  I thought I’d try a lifestyle change and see what effect it has on me at the end of the semester.

My two goals are:

1) to get roughly 8 hours of sleep a night, and

2) to get on my treadmill for 15 minutes, 2-3 times a week, depending on how many days I get out of class early.

My friends would drop dead in shock at that second one because they all know I’m a junk food junkie, with horrible health habits, and who absolutely detests exercise.  But my college likes to send out tips for doing well in school, two of which are the ones I listed above.  Those emails got me thinking that even if I’m already doing well in school, there’s always room for improvement, and I should give some of those study tips a shot.  So here I am, with two goals that I’m going to try my best to stick to throughout the semester.

The school also suggested eating fruits and vegetables, but as I’m sitting here blogging and eating a large bag of Sour Cream & Onion Chips and drinking Coca-Cola, I think that ship has sailed.
