Staycation in Quarantine | Ideas & What I Wore

Last week was my first time experiencing quarantine. Being an “essential worker,” I’ve been working throughout this whole quarantining period. My husband and I had requested last week off since last year, and we decided to keep our vacation.

Some of my co-workers chose to cancel or change their vacation times due to travel restrictions, but we had planned on a staycation anyway, so we decided to keep our vacation and take a mental break from work.

Petite Casual Outfit with Waffled Shirt and Black Jeans and Loafer Mules

We left the house once last week to do a quick grocery shopping trip. The rest of the week, we’ve been keeping ourselves entertained in the house. The weather’s been warming up slowly, and I’ve been excited to bring out some warmer weather items from storage.

I love loafer mules, but there’s a limited period of time when you can wear them. They’re too cold for the winter months, and not my first choice during sweaty summer months. It’s the same thing for jeans – at least for me it is. In the winter, I feel warmer in leggings and boots, and in the summer, I’d rather be in shorts and dresses.

For the one time we left the house last week, I took advantage of the nice weather to wear some ankle jeans, loafer mules, and a comfy waffled shirt. I’ve worn this shirt and these jeans to death – that’s the benefit of buying staple pieces in neutral colors.

Outfit Details:

Top: Target, Cat & Jack, size L (Fun Fact: I searched everywhere for the perfect relaxed-fit waffle shirt, and finally found exactly what I was looking for – in the boys section of Target!)

Bottom: ASOS, Petite Ridley Jeans, Size 23 x 26

Shoes: old, Size 5 (I’m a size 4. These are a little big when barefoot, but with toe-covering half socks, they fit fine.)

Quarantine Ideas for Things to Do

The rest of the week, we literally didn’t set foot outside the house. Some things we did throughout the week:

Cleaned the house: tidied, vacuumed, did laundry (and actually put it away right away – that was an achievement)

Baked a cheesecake

Had dinner at the dinner table: no tv, no phones

Revamped our unfinished basement into a more usable space. Pinterest has some great ideas!

Played Animal Crossing. I don’t play games much, but husband does, and he thought this might keep me entertained while he played his games. As a fashion and interior decorating enthusiast, naturally my favorite part is changing outfits and customizing my house.

Lots of reading

Since we planned on a staycation anyway, staying at home for a week wasn’t that strange. What was strange though, was just knowing that even if we wanted to, we couldn’t go anywhere. It’s a small price to pay for the well-being of the community. This week, it’s back to work for both of us. Hope you’re all staying safe, healthy, and hopeful.
