Zara Kids Shoes Review | Hidden Finds

Zara Kids Chunky Boots in Burgundy

I’d like to think that I never care what people think of me, but I’m not gonna lie – it’s a little mortifying getting caught trying on kids’ shoes in a store. While most kids’ clothing and shoes are too childish for an adult, sometimes there are some hidden gems in the kids’ section. Today, I wanted to share a review of some shoes I found in the Zara kids’ section – a pair of chunky boots and a pair of rainboots.

Lug Sole Boots

I’ve had my eye on a pair of black Dr. Martens for a while now, and found this lookalike pair on Zara in a beautiful burgundy color. I like that the platform is extra chunky, which gives me added height and makes my feet feel more protected from the ground.

My sister originally bought me these boots in size 2 for Christmas, and they were too snug. I exchanged them for size 2.5, and they fit perfectly with medium-thick socks. Lately I’ve been liking going up a half size in shoes that require socks to give my toes some more wiggle room, but I can technically still fit a size 2. However, in these shoes, size 2 was unbearably snug, so I’d say this style runs a half size small.

Rainboots

I love rainboots. This may sound crazy, but I never owned rainboots as a kid. The day I bought my first pair of rainboots (AS A COLLEGE STUDENT!) and realized I could tuck my jeans into my shoes and keep the hems from dragging on dirty, wet city streets, my life was changed.

This is my second pair of rainboots from Zara kids. I owned another all black pair years ago, but I wore them until they literally had a hole in one boot. This pair caught my attention because they’re simple and sleek.

I also purchased the rainboots in size 2.5, and they also fit perfectly with medium-thick socks. What surprised me was how snug the calves were! I’d say I have thin to medium calves, and don’t usually have to squeeze my calf into boots. I wore thicker, fleece-lined leggings to try on these boots, which I’ve worn with other boots, and it was a wee bit of a struggle. With limited circumference, the leggings bunched at the top of the boots. After some effort to tuck the leggings in and smooth everything out, it was fine, but I’d probably be more comfortable with regular, thinner leggings next time.

Overall Thoughts

Although Zara is a fast fashion brand, which isn’t typically known for quality, I’ve found that all the shoes I’ve bought from Zara have been sturdily made. I also appreciate that they offer a wide selection of shoes in half sizes, which I had a hard time finding at other retailers. The combination of sturdy shoes and being able to go up a half size for extra wiggle room makes for a comfortable pair of shoes.

Do you ever shop in the kids’ section?
