It feels a bit out of place to be blogging about a trip I took in the summer when we’re smack dab in the middle of fall, but I suppose somewhere in the world it’s spring/summer. If you missed my last blog post, my husband and I had taken a road trip to Maine towards the end of July heading into August. At the end of my last post, we were in Ogunquit, ME. The next day, we had a slow morning in the hotel, packed up our things, and headed south towards York, ME.
We stopped at a place called Rick’s Restaurant for brunch, where we had your standard American breakfast food. I don’t know about you, but if I want to play it safe at a new breakfast restaurant, I always order some combination of eggs, bacon and sausage.
While we were eating, it started pouring rain outside, which was unfortunate because we were planning on visiting the zoo in York after. By the time we finished eating, the heavy rain had stopped, but it was still drizzling and everything was still quite wet outside. We really didn’t want to waste the day and cancel our plans, so we decided to head to the zoo anyway and hoped it wouldn’t be too yucky to walk around.
We ended up having a really nice time there! They had all sorts of animals, and we even bought some food to feed some of them! I shared some pictures and clips of us feeding the animals on my Instagram, which you can see here:
I had to wear a light raincoat when we first arrived, but partway through, the rain completely stopped and I was able to walk around in just a tank top, shorts and sneakers.
After a few hours at the zoo, we began our journey home to spend the rest of our vacation week with our cat, Grandpaw.
I hope you enjoyed reading about our trip to York, ME and seeing my road trip outfit and all the animals at the zoo. Now that I’m all caught up with my travel posts, I’m thinking the next few posts may be weekly catch up blog posts. If you’re into the mundane and everyday, stay tuned!
