It’s officially the end of Daylight Saving’s Time – well, as of two Sundays ago it was – and I’m already eager for the sunny evenings of spring and summer to return. Like so many others, the early sunsets and darkened days take a toll on my mood, and I find that I’m much less motivated to do things once the sun starts to set around 4 PM, as it signals to my brain that the day is over.
On the day DST ended, we woke up after an extra hour of sleep (the only good thing about DST ending in my opinion), and got ready to go to a corn maze and pumpkin patch.
It was a little chilly out with a good amount of wind, so I made sure to bundle up so I would stay comfortable. I wore leggings with a t-shirt, a turtleneck sweater, a shirt jacket, thick wool socks, and ankle boots (see my review of the boots here).
Most of the activities were for little kids, but we did find some arcade-like games that were adult-friendly (I found out that I’m not too shabby at throwing a basketball in a hoop!). Since it was late in the season, we decided to skip the pumpkin patch this year because they just wouldn’t last very long, but we did get to pet some goats and walk through the corn maze! I wish I could’ve gotten more photos from the day, but it was a bit crowded, and it was impossible not to get a bunch of strangers in every photo. I did manage to snap one photo and record a short video of the goats, which I recently shared on my Instagram (skip to slide four for the goats!):
During The Week | Decor & Shoe Deliveries
During the week, the monotony of the 9-5 was broken up by some fun deliveries. The first was a delivery of fall decor from Joann. I really wanted a nice, big fall wreath to hang on the door to our house this year, but all the ones I liked on Amazon were $40 plus! It was a bit more than I wanted to pay for a wreath, so I took to google to find a more affordable option, and I came across one I liked for less than $15 at Joann!
I had never heard of Joann before, and I definitely gave into the sale prices while I was on their site. The wreaths were so affordable that I decided to buy two – one for each door of the house (and it was still half the price of one wreath on Amazon!), a moon shaped mirror, and a bat mirror. I’m going to be honest – I didn’t even have a plan for where to put the bat mirror, but I loved it as soon as I saw it, and knew I’d be gutted if it sold out, so I just bought it!
The second delivery was a pair of boots from Cinderella of Boston. Back in my college days, I had a pair of brown, leather, high heel boots from Aldo. They were technically one size too big (the smallest size they carry is size 5, and I’m a size 4), but with some inserts, they were one of the most comfortable boots I ever owned. The shaft height was 12″, which was the perfect knee-high height for me (I’m petite and 4’11”). Several years ago, I was walking down the street and one of the heels got caught in the crack of the sidewalk. The heel cap was partially separated from the heel, and I tried in vain to hammer it back in, so unfortunately I had to say farewell to my beloved boots. Ever since then, I’ve been searching for a pair to replace them.
These Dawn boots from Cinderella of Boston have a 12″ shaft height and a 2.5″ heel (my ideal heel height is around 3″, so this was pretty good). I’ve only worn them once since they arrived, so I can’t give a fair review yet, but I’m hoping to take an outfit picture with them and post a review here soon, so stay tuned!
I hope you enjoyed this “week in my life” post. My husband and I are taking a week off work, so I’m thinking the next blog post will either be a review of the Dawn boots, or what we were up to on vacation!
