Petite Workwear: H&M Polka Dot Top

I’ve been absolutely loving the explosion of polka dots at H&M this season. In my last post, I showed outfit pictures of a pretty tulle polka dot skirt I recently bought from H&M. This week, I’m sharing a petite-friendly polka dot top from H&M that’s perfect for workwear.

Material & Comfort

Online, the description of this top lists it as 67% viscose, 28% polyamide, and 5% elastane. In person, what this translates to for me is a thick, almost scuba-like material. Although it does technically stretch (there is no zipper to get into this top), it doesn’t stretch by much at all. Personally for me, this isn’t a problem, as I prefer my tops to be nice and fitted. For others, you might find the limited stretchiness to be uncomfortable to wear and difficult to pull over your head.

Size & Fit

I purchased this top in size XS, and it fits true to size. For reference, tops that are around 21″-23″ in length are normally hip-length on me, as this top is.

I love that this is such an easy peasy work outfit. Petite workwear can be difficult to find. This top is nice and fitted because of its scuba-like material, which means it’s one less fit problem I have to worry about when getting dressed. Pop on some neutral black bottoms and ankle boots, and I’m good to go!

This outfit may not be appropriate for everyone’s work environment. I work in a business casual environment (e.g. we can’t wear jeans, but we also don’t wear suits), and so this outfit works just fine. However, if you work in a more formal environment, you can always style this top with black skinny jeans and flats for a casual outfit!
