“I’m going to go powder my nose.” Does this line make anyone else imagine elegant women in old-fashioned movies who go to the powder room to powder their nose?
I never understood the whole “powder my nose” thing until I started using the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. Originally, I didn’t purchase this to powder my nose. Originally, I bought it because I heard that you could pat it on top of under-eye concealer to prevent creasing. Once I bought it, I realized that people also use powder to prevent shine. I have shine, I thought. And so I took a big fluffy brush and pat, pat, patted my T zone.
On my forehead, this powder is good for pretty much the whole day with one application. My nose is a whole other story – it’s a freakin’ vat of oil. That being said, I do have to re-powder my nose (just like the women in the movies!) occasionally throughout the day. I’m still in the trial and error phase of determining how often I have to re-powder, but I think it’s about every 4 hours. When I work a roughly 8 hour shift, I powder in the morning and during my break roughly 4 hours later. When I get home another 4 hours later, I notice that my nose feels slightly oily, but not very. But we shall see…for all I know, tomorrow could be completely different.
On a bit of a side note: I mentioned that I originally bought this powder to pat on top of concealer to prevent creasing. FAIL. FAIL. FAIL. I found that patting powder on top of my Marcuja concealer (see my review here) actually caused creasing.
I’d still recommend it for keeping your face matte and not oily though, works great for that purpose. Every time I touch my T zone I think, “I can’t believe it’s not oil[y]!” Get it? Get it? No? Ok, nevermind.
I love this powder! I’ve been using it for years – it’s the only thing I’ll buy now.

Thank you so much! I think it’s so interesting how the same product can work wonders for one person and be disastrous for another person. I heard some people raving about the Maybelline Dream Wonder powder, but it caused almost immediate creasing with my under-eye concealer so it went straight back to the store the day after I bought it.
loved this post , I feel like the only person in the world when i say that compact powders don’t work for me at all! half of them don’t set my makeup and make me look like I have severely oily skin even when I use it! I tend to stick to loose powders! I used the rimmel before and I feel like it was perfect for my T zone but for setting under my eyes and cheeks and chin it made me look like I was drenched in oil haha xx
