Wardrobe Staple: Banana Republic Petite Turtleneck Review

Black turtlenecks are a wardrobe staple.

My sister would frown at that statement, and you might too. She feels that turtlenecks are far too constricting, whereas I’ve worn my black turtlenecks until they have holes, so I can’t help but think that I’m right. For my birthday, I asked my sister for yet another black turtleneck: the Banana Republic Petite Merino-Blend Waffle-Knit Sweater, and I thought I’d share a little review.

Size & Fit

I asked for this sweater in size XXS petite. Based on past experience with Banana Republic, even a XXS petite would still be a little roomy on me. Imagine my surprise when I tried it on and it was such a snug, shrunken fit!

To be fair, I didn’t read the product description all that carefully. This sweater is meant to be a cropped fit, designed to be worn with high waist bottoms. As such, the petite length is only 20″ long, and the regular length is 22″ long. Had I known that, I might have opted for the regular length. However, since I don’t currently own a cropped black turtleneck, I’m going to keep it.

Design & Material

Aside from my general love of black turtlenecks, I liked this sweater because of its unique waffle knit texture. As you can see in the picture above, the Merino blend wool is a little fuzzy, so we’ll see how it holds up in the wash. Fingers crossed it doesn’t turn into a fuzzball.

Versatility

There are so many ways to wear this black turtleneck! It can be worn casually or professionally, with jeans or with trousers and skirts. the possibilities are endless.

I hope you found this review of the Banana Republic Petite Waffle Knit Sweater helpful. When I was debating whether or not I wanted this sweater, there were zero reviews, so I wanted to contribute one.
