Why am I already talking about July 4th? No, I haven’t lost my marbles…yet. In previous years, I’ve never given much thought to July 4th. Although fireworks are beautiful to watch, I’m not one for large, loud, crowded gatherings. This year, it’s a little different. This year, I had “plans” for July, and as it’s getting closer and closer, it’s becoming more and more possible that these plans may not come to fruition.
July 1st this year marks my second wedding anniversary. Although my husband and I decided we would only truly celebrate the milestone anniversaries, it would have been nice to go out for dinner that weekend to celebrate the amazing past two years.
The week following July 4th weekend, my family and I were tentatively planning a massive family trip. Over the years, we’ve all grown up, become full-time working adults, gotten married, had children, etc. It’s been increasingly difficult to have my whole family together, let alone to travel together. This year, we planned ahead, and all submitted vacation requests with our respective workplaces for the same week, and it looked like our plan was coming together.
My family and I have been extremely lucky throughout this pandemic. We’re all healthy and safe – what else could you want? Although it’s disappointing to cancel all the things I was excited about for July, we can’t take our well-being for granted.
So it’s not so much that I’m already planning July 4th outfit inspo. It’s more that my mind has been thinking about that week. I’ve been thinking about how different this July 4th is going to be. But I’ve also been thinking that as long as we’re safe and we have each other, that it’s going to be ok.
