All Saints Dalby Leather Jacket Review

All Saints Dalby leather jacket

Ah, the All Saints Dalby leather jacket – loved by fashion bloggers everywhere, praised for its buttery softness and petite-friendly sizing. With a $500 price tag, it’s not a purchase for the faint of heart. I poured over reviews and pictures from shopping sites and blogs for months before taking the plunge. So – was it worth it? Let’s get on to the review!

All Saints Dalby leather jacket

I bought the black leather Dalby jacket in size US 00 with silver hardware. The jacket also comes in different colors in both suede and leather, as well as a gold hardware-version with black leather. I actually really liked the look of the gold hardware, but it didn’t come in my size.

The leather really was buttery smooth. I currently own faux leather jackets from H&M and Abercrombie, and while it may seem like a given, you could feel the difference in quality between the jackets. It also had that amazing new leather smell (unless you don’t like the smell of leather).

Fit-wise, it was a surprisingly snug fit. For reference I’m 4’11” and about 85 lbs. Unzipped, the jacket felt pretty comfortable. It was a tight fit zipped up, even over the thin sweater I was wearing here. I wouldn’t say it was unbearably tight, but it’s not ideal if I can’t layer thicker sweaters underneath.

The deal breaker though was the sleeve length. Since the jacket doesn’t come in petite sizing, I of course knew that the sleeve length might be too long, but I had seen a handful of reviews from other petite bloggers, and none of them had complained about the sleeve length, so I was hopeful.

I’m kicking myself now because I had measured the sleeve length for the purposes of this blog post before I returned it, but I forgot to write it down! I measured the sleeve length on some of my coats and jackets that fit well, and it looks like 21″-23″ (from top of shoulder seam to wrist) is around wrist-length for me. The sleeves on the Dalby jacket were at least an inch too long for me, maybe 1.5.

As I mentioned before, I currently own a faux leather jacket from Abercrombie (see my blog post here. Also, don’t ask where I got 29″-30″ from in that blog post.) The sleeves on my Abercrombie jacket are long too, but I cuff them inwards for a better fit. It’s passable for me, but it might not be for everyone.

With the Dalby jacket, the sleeves are webbed when you unzip them. If you look at the sleeves in the picture of the Abercrombie jacket, you’ll see that the sleeves just open when you unzip them, and there isn’t any webbing. This makes it easier to maneuver the sleeves and cuff them. Since there’s webbing on the Dalby sleeves, the opening is too narrow to cuff easily, and looks very bulky once cuffed.

I wanted to love this jacket so so much. The material felt lovely and soft, it had that great leather smell, and it was small! Unfortunately I couldn’t remedy the long sleeve length, and after seeing how ridiculous it looked in these blog pictures, I decided it was a deal breaker.

Have any of you tried the All Saints Dalby leather jacket or any other of their leather jackets? Have you heard of them and wanted to try them? Let me know in the comments down below!

. . . .

Until next time…

  1. Thanks for sharing! I love All Saints – recently got a dress from them but have yet to try their leather jackets. I may check out their jackets with gold hardware!

    1. I had a hard time deciding between the silver and gold hardware. They both looked nice, but the gold seemed a big more unique. I hope you have better luck with the jacket than I did, because it really is a beautiful jacket if it fits. Thanks so much for reading and commenting!
