Plaid Shirt Jacket & Doc Martens Outfit

Primark Plaid Shirt Jacket Outfit with Doc Martens

I recently celebrated my 31st birthday on Groundhog’s Day. I took a few days off work for my husband’s and my birthday, as his birthday is only 4 days after mine. As a birthday treat, he said we could go shopping anywhere I wanted (it’s my favorite and his least favorite pastime). I decided I wanted to go to Primark, as they don’t have an online store, and it was a rare opportunity to go on a weekday and avoid the crowds. Today I wanted to share one of the pieces I found – a plaid shirt jacket, and how I styled it in an outfit with Doc Martens.

I bought this jacket in size 2XS. The body and arms were a comfortable fit, even with a thick sweater underneath. This is a long sweater that I like to wear with leggings, and the jacket was long enough to cover the sweater, but not so long that it would overwhelm my petite frame. The sleeves were long on me, so I cuffed them once for a better fit.

To complete the look, I threw on some black leggings, scrunched up wool socks, and black Doc Martens. My sister gave me these boots for Christmas, and I love them! They were comfortable without having to break them in, and they’re easy to just pop on with a sweater and leggings. They do run small. I’m normally a size 2 in kids’ shoes, but sometimes I prefer a 2.5 for extra wiggle room if I’m going to be wearing thick socks. Since these don’t come in half sizes, I originally asked for size 2, but they were too snug, so we exchanged them for size 3 and they fit perfectly.

I’ve only worn this jacket once since I bought it. The temperature was in the high 40s-50 degrees F that day. I felt a little toasty at first with the thick wool sweater and the jacket on, but it started getting very windy, and I felt just right.

I like jackets like this that can comfortably fit over thicker, longer sweaters so I don’t feel like a stuffed sausage. Do you like shirt jackets/own a shirt jacket? How do you like to style them? Let me know in the comments down below! Until next time…
