How to Style a Bardot Top | Petite Review

And just like that, the first month of spring has come and gone. I’ve been trying to dip my toes into the new spring 2023 styles that are coming out, but some days are still cold enough to warrant a chunky grandpa sweater! So right now, I’ve mostly been looking at thin knits in spring colors or tops with long sleeves to keep me a bit warmer. Today I wanted to share how to style a bardot top I recently bought from H&M, as well as a review of how it fits on a petite.

Size & Fit

I bought this top in my usual size XXS, and it fit like a glove (for reference I’m 4’11” and about 85 lbs)! The sleeves measure 20.25″ long, the body measures 12.25″ long, and the elasticated hem is 12.5″ wide when laid flat. As someone who has a large bust, I normally steer away from bubble tops because they add so much volume to the upper body, where I carry most of my weight. Since this is a cropped fit, I found that it drew attention to my waist, where I’m smallest, despite how voluminous it was.

How I Styled It

The weather was beautiful this weekend, and I had the chance to wear this top to brunch at a smoothie bar! I wore it with a pair of high-waist blue jeans, which complimented the cropped fit nicely, and kept the focus at my waist. For shoes, I went with a pair of gold sandals I’ve had since high school, possibly even middle school! Then to tie it all together, I stacked two gold necklaces to match the gold sandals.

Overall Thoughts

This top is currently $19.99 at full price. H&M always has sales, so I waited for one and bought it for $15. I think this top is really flirty and pretty, and the florals and bright colors are perfect for this time of year. I plan to style it with shorts when the weather is warmer out, so I think it will be a versatile piece in my spring/summer wardrobe. The sleeves and body length are also petite-friendly, even though it’s not petite sizing. The only con is that bardot tops can be hard to move in. Every time I raised my arms, the elastic at the top would shift, and I was constantly fidgeting with it. That being said, it’s a con that comes with any bardot top, and for $15, I think I can deal with it.

I hope you liked this outfit, and seeing how to style a bardot top on a petite! How do you feel about bardot tops?
