Petite Workout Clothes | Athleta Review

Before quarantining started, my friend and I got together for a shopping date to catch up on life. (Anyone else find it incredibly difficult to keep in touch with friends post-college?) One of the things on both of our shopping lists was workout clothes. The plaza we went to had an Athleta store, which I’ve never shopped at, and I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. So today I wanted to share a review of petite workout clothes from Athleta.

Petite Workout Clothes: Athleta Speedlight Heather Top

Online, this top is only available in regular sizing, and only as small as an XS. For reference, I normally wear the smallest size available (e.g. XS, XXS, 00, etc.), and 22″-23″ is hip-length on me. There is definitely extra length in both the torso and sleeves. However, scrunched up a bit, I think it’s doable!

The sleeves have thumb holes, which I can still utilize without scrunching the sleeves too much. There is ruching around the waist (see the hem flipped up in the last picture), which will not be noticeable with a looser fit, as it is on me. On the inside of the hem are rubber grips to keep the top snug on your hips. I have 28″ hips, and the hem of the top does not fit snugly on my hips, which means the rubber grips don’t serve their purpose on me.

Petite Workout Clothes: Athleta Salutation Stash Pocket II Twist 7/8 Tight

Petite Workout Clothes Athleta Review

In store, I tried these tights in XXS regular. For reference, I am 4’11”, and normally wear a 26″ inseam for skinny jeans. Online, these tights were also available in petite sizing. At the time I purchased these, petite XXS was not available in black. The XXS regular was already an ideal length on me, so I decided to purchase the regular length. The petite length has since become available online in XXS petite.

Underneath the twists is mesh paneling. The twists are so tightly packed together that the mesh is not very visible. So if you’re not interested in showing any skin, it shouldn’t be a problem.

One of my new year’s resolutions for 2020 was to find a new hobby. I decided to start taking yoga classes at a local studio. I figured it would be good for me mentally and physically, and like many people, I’m really trying to be kinder to myself this year.

With the quarantine, my local studio is currently closed. This is all new to me, and I hope that I don’t lose motivation once businesses reopen!

. . . .
