It’s currently 90 degrees outside, and I’m suffering from a heat-induced grogginess and headache. It’s been a whole week of hot, sticky, sweat-inducing weather. So here’s what I wore during the heat wave!
I had a half day at work to start the week, so I figured it was a good day to wear flats instead of my comfy shoes. Nothing’s easier than pairing black with black and more black. My top is from Reformation, my skirt is super super old from Forever 21, and my flats are from Sam Edelman.
There was one random day midweek that was supposed to be in the low 70s. It felt cool in my house, so I made the mistake of thinking I could wear long jeans. We went shopping at an outdoor plaza, and I was slowly melting into my clothes. It was SO NOT 70 degrees.
Aside from that, I really liked how this outfit turned out. I liked the combination of the cropped tee, with high-waisted jeans cuffed to ankle length, and these flats that remind me of smoking slippers. These are the petite Topshop Joni jeans. They were a gift, so I’m not sure what shade they are, but they’re size 25Wx28L. I normally wear size 23-24 waist size, so these definitely run small!
Call me crazy, but something about the print on these flats makes me think of fall, so I don’t usually wear them in the summer. But I was downsizing my shoe collection as we’re packing to move house, and I had the urge to wear some of the shoes that I decided to keep but hadn’t worn much recently.
Later in the week, the heat was still relentless. TMI ALERT! It was the first day of that time of the month for me here. Usually when it’s that time, I just default to black trousers for work so that I don’t have to think about it. But A, it was hot. And B, I’ve been trying to get some wear out of all my dresses before the summer ends. So let’s just say I found a way to make mother nature and the dress (old, from ASOS) work together.
The downside was that I had to wear flats with the dress, and I was working an 8 hour shift that day, and an 11 hour shift the next day. I spend 100% of the time on my feet at work, so I was definitely risking some sore feet by the end!
For accessories, I just popped on a pair of faux pearl and bow earrings from…Bauble Bar? They’re several years old, but I’m pretty sure they’re from Bauble Bar.
I hope you enjoyed seeing some of what I wore this week during the heat wave! What do you find is the most challenging thing to work around when picking an outfit? The weather? Mother nature? The constraints of your job? Let me know in the comments down below!
