What I Wore | Allen C. Haskell Public Gardens

Pink, off-the-shoulder dress with yellow and blue floral print; white purse; and white sandals

I love going for a walk or an easy hike. So far this year, I’ve already discovered two great new places to walk around. The first was Bay Farm Trail in Duxbury, MA, which I shared in this blog post here. Then a few weeks ago, I found this hidden gem called Allen C. Haskell Public Gardens in New Bedford, MA. When I say hidden, I really mean hidden. We visited on a sunny, warm Saturday, and were the only ones there! Places that are quiet and peaceful, and not crowded are my favorite.

It was warm enough for a dress that day, but not so warm that I couldn’t wear a long sleeve. I was itching to wear my new dress from H&M, and thought the weather was perfect for it. I got this dress on sale for an absolute STEAL! It was $8 when I bought it, but they still have a few pieces in size XXS on sale for only $4 now! Sometimes sale sections are full of items with bad reviews that no one wanted to buy, but sometimes there are some surprising goodies in there.

H&M Crinkled Off-the-Shoulder Dress

I bought this dress in my usual size XXS. I’m 4’11” and about 85 lbs, and it was a perfect fit. The top of the arms, chest and back are all elasticated, but separately. With off-the-shoulder tops like the one I wore in this blog post, the arms and chest are all on one big elastic, so when you lift your arms, the whole top shifts up, which can be annoying. The dress also has a small, smocked section on the back. Being on the thinner side of petite and often having clothes be too large, I like clothes with smocking because they start off very small, but stretch to fit.

Sam Edelman Bay Slide Sandals

The dress has bits of white in it, so I paired it with my white Sam Edelman Bay Slide sandals. I’m a size US 4 in women’s shoes, and size 4 fit true to size. This is my second pair of Sam Edelman sandals, and I have to say – they’re very robust shoes! I’ve had my black flip flops for over 5 years now, and they’re still going strong. I can’t vouch for all the styles, but both sandals I own have the brown insole, and gold “Sam Edelman” printed along the length of the insole.

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I wore for my stroll in the gardens. I put together a reel on my Instagram to share the sights with everyone, which you can find here.
