ASOS Petite Pants | Borrowed From the Boys

ASOS Petite Woven Peg Pants Blog Review
ASOS Petite Woven Peg Pants Blog Review

This week’s outfit is borrowed from the boys. I bought this sweater for my husband from Nordstrom years ago, but after several cycles in the washer and dryer, it shrunk to children’s size. I felt like wearing something slouchy and easy to work Monday morning, and decided to go for a blue-on-blue outfit with my ASOS petite “woven peg pants”.

Being thin and petite (I’m 4’11”), it’s near impossible to find work pants that fit off the rack. (Lately, my best friend in my work wardrobe has been flared black yoga pants.) I purchased these pants from ASOS in size US 00 about two years ago, but they are still available on their site in different colors.

Fit Review

Honestly, I didn’t love the fit. The butt and thigh area were oddly baggy and unflattering, and the crotch was rather low. I brought the pants to a tailor, who took the waist in, which raises the crotch, and slimmed the legs a bit. Even after alterations, I don’t think the legs look right. You can see in the first picture that the fabric bulges from my hip to my knee, and then is straight from the knee down. A straight, smooth line from the hip all the way down would have looked more flattering.

Even though I purchased these pants in petite sizing, the pants were almost ankle length on me. On the model, the pants are a few inches above her ankle. After taking in the waist, the length fit more like it was supposed to.

It seems as though many of ASOS’ pants have a similar cut to these. Therefore, I’m a bit hesitant to try another pair of ASOS pants again any time soon. I could take it to a tailor (and admittedly a better tailor next time), but it doesn’t seem worth it. Considering the pants are $35, it doesn’t make sense to pay any amount in alterations.

Have you had luck finding petite pieces at ASOS?
