For Christmas 2017, my fiance gifted me a 3 month subscription to Birchbox – a service I’ve seen a lot on others’ blogs and vlogs, but never had the chance to try out myself. Box 1 contained 5 products, including hair, skin, and makeup products.
12 Benefits Instant Healthy Hair Treatment
One thing I can say for sure about the 12 Benefits Instant Healthy Hair Treatment is that it smells amazing. It reminds me of going to the hair salon and having them spritz my hair at the end to give the look some polish and shine. I never know what they’re spritzing, but it always smells fantastic. This treatment has a thicker, serum-like consistency, although it’s not sticky and disappears once you blow dry your hair. I can’t say that I’ve seen any changes in my hair from using this treatment, although I don’t use it routinely. Personally, I also feel that hair treatments don’t actually work…
MAC Cosmetics In Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash Mascara
Unfortunately, this was the only product in the box that I wasn’t that blown away by. Ironically, it was the one product that I thought, when I first opened the box, that I was going to love. Even after putting on a couple coats, my lashes still looked thin and wispy. In contrast, when I put on my L’Oreal Lash Paradise mascara, my lashes instantly darker and thicker, and instantly stand out. I also like to feel my mascara brush gripping my lashes and tugging on them a bit as I wiggle the brush through the lashes, but I didn’t get that feeling with the MAC mascara. It had such a light grip that I felt like the wand wasn’t even touching my lashes.
Stila Cosmetics Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick – Perla
This Stila Cosmetics Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick hasn’t won my heart…yet. Although I love a nude lip, I don’t think this particular shade of nude suits my skin tone. When applying, I can’t press down too hard on the wand or swipe back and forth too much or the application/color becomes uneven, and I can see patches of my natural lip color peeking through. I get the feeling that if I were to try this in a darker shade, like a red, that it would be easier to get an even, saturated application.
Vasanti Brighten Up New Skin Amplifying Moisturizer
=( …it’s scented. I don’t think that this is necessarily a bad product. However, for my own personal taste, it wasn’t quite right. I prefer my moisturizers to be unscented, so that the smell isn’t constantly wafting up my nose while the moisturizer sits on my face. This moisturizer also has a sticky feel to it, and I personally prefer a lighter, lotion-like consistency to my moisturizers.
Wilma Schumann Skin Care Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads
Unfortunately I haven’t actually had a chance to try these, even though it’s been 3 months. I’ve been a busy busy bee! But if it’s anything to rave about, you’ll likely see it featured in a future post.
